The WEEE or Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive was adopted by the EU in 2003. It aims to reduce the amount of WEEE being disposed in landfills by promoting seperate collection, treatment and recycling. It affects any business that manufactures, brands or imports EEE as well as businesses that sell EEE or store, treat or dismantle WEEE within the EU.
